Q: I’m from Illinois and I bought a car from Texas, how and where would I get a temp plate to drive it back home?
I’m from Illinois and I bought a car from Texas, how and where would I get a temp plate to drive it back home? I could really use help on knowing the laws on buying cars out-of-state and how to legally drive it from Texas to Illinois. Thanks for any responses!
A: Robbie, I bought a used car in Idaho last month and saved some cash. Try visiting a few used car lots in Texas. http://www.findusedcardealer.com/Texas-Used-Car-Dealers.html
Q: What is the quickest way to get another copy of your car title in Illinois?
I had totalled my car in November and paid the fees for the towing company. They were going to wreck my car upon me sending them the title. I had sent the title, but theey did not receive it (my fault for not using certified mail). So now I just received a bill for 4025.00 from the towing company for the fees for my car. They’ll waive the fees as soon as they receive the title by March 17th. What is the quickest way for me to get this title? I live in Illinois.
A: You have to fill out an application for a duplicate title and send it to the secretary of state in springfield.
You can get the application at your local DMV

Q: Can I use my friend’s car for getting my Illinois driver’s license?
I just turned 18. My parents don’t want me to get a license, so I can’t ask them to come with me. I can’t afford to buy my own car and get insurance on it.

A: In most states if the car is insured and in safe, clean condition, you can use it to take your driving test. Be sure to have your friend drive you to the examiner’s station, just in case they ask how you got the car there. When I got my motorcycle endorsement I was asked that very question. Luckily I had the test bike on a trailer. Good luck with your test.
Q: Does anyone know how 2 get 2 the Oak Brook Shopping Center in Illinois using only public transportation?
I am looking to get to and from the Oak Brook Shopping Center located at
100 Oakbrook Ctr, Oak Brook, IL. I do not have a car and I have heard that this is one of the best malls near Chicago. I am looking for a day of relaxation and fun without driving
A: Oak Brook is serviced by PACE buses. You can take METRA or CTA from your house but you will end up on a PACE bus.
Since you don’t mention a starting point, use the following RTA site for exact routes and fares. From the pull-down menu select Oakbrook Center as your destination. Opt out for the goroo.com option:

Q: i live in california and ive been searching online for used 2000 civic si and i noticed that in other states?
in like kansas and illinois the cars a hella cheap. I WANT TO KNOW WHY ITS SO CHEAP OUT THERE?
A: these are some reason i can think of..
1:the cost of living in California is rather high compared to Kansas and Illinois but Texas should be kinda close to our prices
2:Living in California, everyone needs a car, its kinda of hard to live a day without using a car, thats why prices on cars here are more expensive because dealers know we need cars Used or Brand New
Q: How can I get a donated car in Illinois?
I know a lot of people donate.
I know someone who could really use one and I would love to help him out
A: contact the Salvation Army, and also any mission for homeless and disadvantaged people. Try your local ones first.
Q: Is using he Illinois dyno free of charge?
I want to put my car on the dyno for the heck of it and see what shows up.
A: The equipment is so expensive, and preparation so technical, that I highly doubt it.
On the other hand:
1. perhaps businesses exist which sell this service to the public, or,
2. volunteers might be sought for a school project.

Also i was not given a Bill of Sale the previous owner just handed over the title… i was not aware i needed one because i used to live in MO. and the price paid was on the MO titles… is this going to be a problem at the DMV???
A: The price should be on the bill of sale and taxes are figured on the value of the car by their book, not what you paid for it. Take the title, bill of sale, your insurance card and driver’s license and checkbook to get the tag.
Q: Can I drive out of state with temporary plates on my car. The car is properly registered and it’s insured?
Can I drive out of state with temporary plates on my car. I just bought a used car that only has the rear temporary plate and I need to travel from Illinois through Indiana, Tennesse, Kentucky and alabama. I have only had the car three weeks but the car is properly registered and I do have insurance. Is it legal I don’t want to break the law or get tickets.
A: Yes, temporary plates are the same as real plates in every state.
Q: How much money would gas cost to get to South Dakota from Aurora Illinois?
My friend is sayint it will be about a hundred dollars. It is 909 miles. We will be using a compact car I think.
A: If you are going to Rapid City (not sure don’t say) if gas was $3.15 a gallon car got 27 mph then yes about $105 one way.
Q: What are the requirements for an auto dealers license in Illinois?
I am looking to get an auto dealer’s license in Illinois. I have heard that you need to have a lot, is there any way around this? In the past I worked under a used car dealer as a salesperson and was able to go to dealer auctions and buy and sell just as if I was a dealer. I paid the dealer for each unit I sold. This would probably be the easiest way to go, but I can’t seem to find anyone willing to let me do that through them. Any ideas?
A: You can find a list of the requirements and links to the official state forms and pamphlets here: http://www.dmv.org/il-illinois/dealer-licensing.php

A: I live in Texas but I am sure laws are the same. You can use any car. What matters is that you have someone drive you there (since you don’t have a licence) and that you have proof of insurance on the car. This does NOT mean that YOU need insurance, but if its your friends car, you’ll just need to show them your friends insurance.
Q: Lemon Law/Manufacturer Buyback, I bought a used car, then found THAT on the title AFTER!!!!!!!?
Lemon Law Buyback??? I bought a used car….. found THAT on the title AFTERwards….?
I bought a used car (2006 Pontiac GTO) about two months ago and JUST recently found out that the title has a lemon law/manufacturer buyback on it. It was a defect in the paint supposedly. It claims that the defect was remedied, then sold at auction…….
then over the course of the past year it has been retitled, but the lemon law thing still pops up……..
SHOULD the dealer have told me about this in WRITING when I purchased the car, or have they gone against the law???? (I’m from Illinois)…… I’ve been reading here and there that if a car was previously bought back because of a defect/lemon law that it should be presented to you in writing at the time of sale if the car gets resold later. The dealership never told me ANYTHING!
Am I able to do something about this, like take the dealership to court or have them buy it back or something???
I have checked ALL my paperwork, read EVERYTHING (literally) and there is NO where in MY paperwork that says anything about it previously having the lemon title…….
A: I certainly wouldn’t be asking this question on a website. Call a lawyer. Most lawyers won’t charge for asking such a simple question. They aren’t likely to take a case before knowing some simple facts. I usually call at least a couple before deciding what course of action to pursue. Get a few opinions from professionals, then hire one if need be. I used to work at a dealership, and you can expect to be given the run around if you take the car back to them.
As far as I know, what they have done is illegal. They probably pocketed the money to fix the problem, and then sold you the car. If you decide to handle this on your own, I would ask them for documentation that the problem was fixed and a written gaurantee that they will fix it if you have a future problem. Or, ask for a full refund and a different car.
The next time you purchase a car, insist that the dealer show you the CarFax vehicle history report. This includes a list of ALL previous reported title changes, insurance claims, etc, etc. It’s a great way to protect yourself from problems like this.
