Q: New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles?
One day, I want to build the world’s first green theme park. I aspire to make all the rides generate electricity from the centrifugal force. For example, the ferris wheel, whirling dervish, looping starships, revolving gates, merry-go-round, carousel, tilt-o-whirls, and bumper cars could produce energy. I even want a gym with treadmills and stationary bikes that could do the same. Not to mention cranks that restless children can turn. I imagine the water rides could have stream engines that produce electricity as well. Needless to say, all the building rooftops could have solar panels and helical wind turbines. No green theme park can come without a green space. This idea encompasses a large biodome with several exotic species. Essentially, I want the entire output of this place to be equivalent to that of a power plant. Then several other theme parks can adopt this principle. The most plausible place to groundbreak this idea would be in a global city where cultural diffusion spreads and new principles emerge. Therefore, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago would be the three most sensible locations. Which of these three places do you think would be most receptive toward this concept?

A: That is a great Idea ! Probably Chicago or maybe even in New York would be the best place ( Not so much California – Because they already have a lot of theme parks there ) Where as New York & Chicago from I know doesn’t have that much theme parks – Except Coney Island in New York.
Since New York is not that far from Virginia. I would some day be able to go on vacation there and, see the great job that you have accomplished with building “The Worlds First Green Theme Park”. Keep in mind that by doing this not only would you be doing a lot good for nature itself – But you would also be able to educate a lot of people while showing them a really good time ! Good Luck :)

Q: is chicago one of the richest cities in america?
if not the richest, because alot of people talk about loosing their jobs due to outsourcing, and downsizing, and manufacturing jobs being lost. in short massive unemployment since bush has been in office, but noooo nooo nooooo. not in chicago. houses and condos are springing up everywhere, people are driving newer cars, have nicer houses, spend alot eating out. i mean what gives? is chicago not a true representation of american posperity or lack of
keep in mind, i havent really ventured west o south

A: Are the condos selling? No. People can afford to eat out because they have credit cards. Can they pay the bill? Probably not. The median income in Chicago is around 50k. In Most of California it is around 70k. New York has the same high median income as California. What you’re seeing in Chicago, is a downtown, south loop, and near north revitalization. This makes Chicago look great. Also, city government welcoming new businesses into the city with huge tax incentives which makes business want to stay here.

Q: After the auto show ends, where do the cars go? Can the general public buy they?
For example, where do new cars go after the NY auto show, or the Detriot, L.A. or Chicago auto show.

A: Except for manufacturer’s concept cars, most of the vehicles are returned to the dealers lots. The concept cars are returned to the manufacturer’s “dream works” and are usually (but not always) destroyed by crushing or dismantling them. Some “concept” cars were actually not destroyed, most notably some of Harley Earl’s Buick concepts in the late 1940’s and some Chevrolets from the early and mid ’50’s and, of course, some Chrysler concept cars of the ’60’s, most notably the turbine cars. The concept cars are obviously not going to be sold to the general public, but the new model releases are offered and of course, the dealers welcome potential customers.

Q: Will anyone be at the chicago autoshow?

A: Chicagoautoshow.com

Nearly every auto manufacturer that sells cars in the US will be represented there.
The Chicago Auto Show website has a list of every vehicle that will be there.

Q: What is a good, fun, competitive, no-checking ice hockey league to join in or near downtown Chicago?
I live in the Streeterville area and am new to Chicago. I’m 22, and am looking to join a fun, competitive, no-checking ice hockey league for this fall/winter. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The closer to Streeterville the better as I don’t have access to a car. Thanks.

A: Check out Hockey North America (NHA).

Q: Where can I get auto financing in Chicago while in a chapter 13 bankruptcy?
I was told by attorney to go out and get a new car loan deal for approval by the trustee, problem is many companies won’t do a loan deal in an open bankruptcy. I would appreciate any leads.

A: You CAN get a decent car loan, even with bad credit. I’ve done it, but you’ll have to look around. That’s one of the BIG mistakes people make…just taking the first offer that’s given to them when they go to the dealer. Be smarter than that.

WARNING: DON’T GO TO BUY A CAR WITHOUT HAVING THE LOAN FIRST. The auto dealers will eat you alive and give you a crappy rate. Shop around with lenders who specialize in bad credit car loans. It’s a better option, you don’t have to take what they’re offering if you don’t want it, and it’s better than dealing with the car dealer’s people.

There are usually some nationally based car loan companies who specialize in bad credit car loans who advertise on the page linked below…

Q: How long does it take from Chicago to get to Long Island, New York?
By car a non- stop drive

A: It should be somewhere around 11 hours, depending on exactly where in Chicago and where on Long Island. It’s about 800 miles but you’re on I-80 the whole way.

Q: is it safe to go for night club alone in public transport in chicago?
I am new in chicago. here for a brief period. i want to explore it but have got no car. I stay in des plaines.
I want to explore the night clubs too. got no frnd to accompany me. Is it safe to roam around alone in publice transport at night? And is chicago’s public transport good?

A: Generally, yes, it’s safe. Coming from Des Plaines, you’d probably want to take the Blue Line in, which probably runs 24/7 since it goes to O’Hare, so you won’t have to worry about getting stuck. Just remember: stay aware, stay with others (even if that just means being in a crowd of strangers), and if you feel uncomfortable, find the nearest CTA employee.

Q: New Univ of Chicago grad student…where to live…how to get around?
My daughter will be in graduate school at Univ of Chicago Divinity School this fall. We’re looking for decent areas for her and some friends to live. If she lives a distance from campus, will she need a car? How safe is metro transportation at night? Any info would sure be appreciated!

A: The South Loop is a neighborhood that would make for a shorter commute. There are lots of lofts in this area. It’s just south of downtown but it’s a little pricey and isn’t as popular with young people.

In Chicago, most of the neighborhoods where young people live are on the North Side of the city or a little west of the city so that might make for a tough commute depending on exactly what neighborhood she ends up in.

Having a car isn’t a necessity, but it would probably be nice.

Q: Forgot to get chicago city sticker, 30 day deadline is sunday to not be penalized, Can I go to currency exchan
ge to get sticker? Im asking because I was reading something that was talking about certain specific places to go to get the sticker when u have a new car. Is this true or can I just go to the currency exchange?

A: Just go to any currency exchange and they will take care of it for you.

Q: How long would it take to drive from San Francisco to New York
I’d just like a rough idea how long I should anticipate a journey travelling from San Francisco to New York by car would take. It would be at a pretty leisurely pace and I would want to stop off in places on the way (i.e Las Vegas, Kansas maybe, Chicago) etc. It would be great were you to make some recommendations of where perhaps I should go. I’m a keen photographer. I’d like to see a cross section of the country such as forests/outdoors/architecture/cities/fashion.

The question is a bit vague but I need to get an idea of how much time off work I’d need.

Thanks

A: I say 4-5 days.

Q: I understand that New York City, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago…..?
Seattle, Berkeley, CA, and other cities in Europe and around the world are becoming car-free cities with something called the “Summer Streets” program. Is that true?

A: Yes, New York and Seattle are part of the “Summer Streets” program. Seattle Summer Streets is modeled after similar successful events held in New York; San Francisco; Portland, Ore.; Vancouver, British Columbia; and Bogota, Colombia.

Good luck and safe travels!

Q: Where should I stay in New York?
Here’s a interesting problem. Me and my wife are relocating to New York from Chicago.
1. My work place is in 111 Pavonia Avenue, Jersey City, NJ
2. Her work place is at 21 Bloomingdale Road, White Plains, NY
3. We have a car (but happy to get rid of it if the costs don’t justify)
4. We have a budget of $1800-$2000 for a 2 bedroom apartment.

Question is – Where should we be staying? Should we keep the car?

A: it is a very beautiful city but DONT LIVE IN NYC, ITS A NIGHTMARE!!!!! try livin somewhere near Syracuse, ny….. Lyncourt, ny is a very nice suburb
